Winner – category: Best Wooden Building in the Netherlands
“The materials used for Juf Nienke are largely biobased and recycled;
they have a low environmental impact and are mostly renewable. The smartly connected wooden prefab modules
(HSB and partly CLT) have a standard width of 4m with varying depths and can be dismantled, making it easy to
adapt the building for future use.
Because the building is constructed almost entirely of wood, the homes sequester more than 580,000 kg of CO2,
which actively contributes to a better climate and a healthy living environment. Thanks to the industrial
prefabrication of the wooden modules in the housing factory, the impact on the environment during the
construction process was minimal.”
